Everday I'm Octoberin'

The Autumn season is the most wonderful time of the year
Halloween is the bestest part
Which is in like T-2 DAYS!

My zombie costume back in my dance crew days

Last Halloween, Taylor and I teamed up as Misty and Ash from Pokemon.

And to think one year later we'd have a little screechy nugget that we call "daughter".
Weird.

This year... will be awesome. Just you wait.

This season has been especially busy. First, we shot our first video "Who's the Hood?"

More on that later.
We did some more festive stuff. Here's our first corn maze:

We went to Black Island Farms for this one. It took us an hour and a half to figure out two of the corn mazes. We had some sunlight to help us, but we would have been there a lot longer if we had done it all in the dark. Totes awesome.

Notice the wee one down at the bottom of the photo. This is actually the picture I sent out to my missionary friends that I "accidentally" forgot to tell that we were having a baby. I thought it was a funny surprise. They didn't so much. :)

In my family, we grew up with the tradition of going to Gardner Village during October.
"Jared" from Gardner Village. What a hunk.

We don't usually buy anything. Mostly we go just to wander around, look at the witches, and then sample some fudge from the candy shop place. This year was a little different because 1) I now had a baby in a stroller to cart around and 2) some jerk replaced the candy shop place.

If you're that jerk, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it, let's talk it out over fudge.

This pinterest recipe actually worked. Candy Corn Salad: pineapple, mandarin oranges, and homemade whipped cream on top. It's nice to have healthy alternatives to the usual Halloween treats.

The traditional pumpkin carving:

Painting a pumpkin was a first time for me. Taylor's pumpkin may look plain, but in the dark...

Taylor is probably one of well-rounded people I know. He's super smart and clever, and has a great artistic side. It's an awesomely random combination.

This is our first time being super festive for a holiday. All the past few holidays that we've been married, I was either dying from pregnancy or experiencing Jaundice. I'm grateful that we got to change it up for Halloween though. Celebrating a holiday is so much fun. If you don't expect perfection, then it's a lot less stressful, and becomes more a treasured memory.

Y'all can say what you want about Christmas, but Autumn time is the happiest time of the year.
